The man was struck outside the Woolworths on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road in Bannockburn, Logan, on the morning of March 12.
Officers attended his home on Belivah Road in nearby Belivah to alert family he had been hurt, but instead discovered the bodies of his partner Kate Paterson and 11-month-old daughter April.
Witnesses later reported the 38-year-old man had been seen running towards the road, and may have already had a neck injury when struck.
The bodies of Kate Paterson (right) and her one-year-old daughter April (centre) were found inside a home in Belivah on Thursday.
Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn said at the time the baby and mother were likely killed with an edged weapon.
On Tuesday, police confirmed Seers had been charged with two counts of murder.
After the car crash the alleged killer was unconscious in hospital, but police have confirmed he has since regained consciousness.
