BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A 4-0 record last week earned Navy’s Herrick Legaspi this week’s Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player-of-the-Week award, the league office announced today.
Legaspi registered a pair of singles and doubles wins during Navy’s matches last week against both UC San Diego and Air Force, with all of those matches being played at the respective No. 1 flights.
He first teamed with Tommy Kim for a 7-6 (8-6) victory over the UCSD pairing of Andrew Beceiro and Prathinav, then posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Oliver Worth. Two days later he and Charlie Spencer combined for a 6-2 victory against the Falcons to help Navy win the doubles point. Legaspi closed the week by defeating Phillip Deaton by the score of 6-3, 6-1 during a 4-1 Navy win over Air Force.
Navy will open its Patriot League season Sunday with a home match against Boston University (10 a.m.) while also playing a road match at James Madison (11 a.m.).
