Less than 24 hours after their 2025/26 campaign wrapped up with a second last-placed finish in the Sheffield Shield, Cricket NSW has unveiled the State’s next cricket head coach.

Former Test wicketkeeper, Cricket NSW life member and commentator Brad Haddin will take over from veteran Greg Shipperd who departs the role a year early along with his two assistants Ali de Winter and Shawn Bradstreet.

While Haddin will oversee the NSW Sheffield Shield and One-Day sides from next season, it was announced he will not be filling either of the vacant BBL coaching roles at the Sydney Sixers or Sydney Thunder.

The 48-year-old will start his new role in June, returning to Cricket NSW in a formal capacity for the first time since he played his final match for the Blues more than decade ago in November 2014.

“NSW cricket has been an integral part of my life and to rejoin the fold as Blues head coach is a proud moment for myself and my family,” Haddin said in a statement from Cricket NSW.

“Wearing the baggy blue was incredibly special and gave me some of the greatest memories of my career.

“I am looking forward to working with our current crop of talented players to bring back an aura to NSW cricket and to have a team with a formidable and distinctive style of play we can all be proud of.”

NSW finished fifth in this season’s Sheffield Shield and has not featured in a final since losing to Queensland in the 2020/21 decider.

Haddin is the second new state head coach to be appointed with WA earlier announcing that Beau Casson will replace Adam Voges in 2026/27.
