After leading Punjab Kings (PBKS) to the final of IPL 2025, captain Shreyas Iyer wants to go one step further this time.

Speaking at the launch of PBKS’ new jersey, Iyer said, “Expectations are high, which is fun. I love the challenge. But the important thing is that whenever we step in, we have to win. My eye is on the trophy.”

Iyer has been on the sidelines in the last few months. He suffered a spleen injury in Australia in October 2025, did not get a game during India’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and could not find a place in the T20 World Cup squad.

“It is always challenging to come back after an injury,” he said. “I had lost around seven kilos and it took a lot of effort to gain that weight back. But I love challenges. I am glad I overcame that part of my life, and I am back here proudly representing the team.”

PBKS will open their IPL campaign against Gujarat Titans in New Chandigarh, and local boy Arshdeep Singh is determined to win all home games this season.

“When you feel the pressure, it is a privilege,” Arshdeep said. “It is a lot of fun when you get so much support from the crowd. When people cheer for you, you feel that 30,000 people are running in with you. We will try our best to win all our home matches this year.”
