It was a quarter of two halves there as the Suns dominated early, before the Tigers controlled the back end of the term with high-pressure and attacking footy.

My feel on the game is that Richmond had the better of it, but just missed some really solid opportunities to take the lead.

Highlights of the quarter included:

Dan Rioli’s young uncle Maurice Rioli Jr chasing him down for an electric holding the ball decisionLefau going full rugby and just trying to barrel his way through his opponents without bouncing itBen King starting hot, particularly when he got on the end of a Christian Petracca pass that was pure poetry

Jayden Short (11) has the most touches for the game, with Bodhi Uwland and Touk Miller leading the way for the Suns with nine.

It’s all level at the MCG!

Mykelti Lefau seemed to forget which code he was playing early on, but now he clunks a big strong mark directly in front 20m and he converts easily.

Scores are level but it feels like the Tigers have had the better of this one.

This time it’s Christian Petracca unloading a set shot from outside 50 and it looks good off the boot, but it hammers into the post!

Campbell hits the post on the run!

The Tigers should be leading this.

It’s a perfect attacking build up for Richmond and it finds Seth Campbell open about 65m out.

He streaks forward and unloads on the run from just inside 50! The crowd goes up but THWACK … right into the post.

This is great footy from the Tigers.

Oh no, Tigers miss a golden chance!

Steely Green has had an absolute shocker there.

The pressure from the Tigers forwards was elite as the Suns tried to find an exit from their D50. Dion Prestia eventually managed to make the holding the ball tackle and is handed a set shot right in front, about 20m out.

But Green takes the advantage with a flying shot around the corner and he misses badly.

Real let off for the Suns.

Tigers are on the board via a former Sun!

Dion Prestia is wide open in the F50 for the Tigers on a rare burst forward, and the former Sun arrows the set shot straight through the middle!

The Suns are looking super dangerous but the Tigers have done well to keep in touch with 10 minutes left in the quarter,

VFL check in

It’s halftime in Tasmania and the Tassies hold a one point lead over Coburg.

In Footscray, the Bulldogs are up by eight on Casey.

And in the Giants and Saints match, we’ve just hit the 55th minute of the third quarter after play was delayed due to lightning. The Giants lead by five goals.

Two early majors for Ben King

It’s a scramble for the ball in the F50 for the Suns, but Bailey Humphrey finds space where there’s not much of it, and releases the ball to King.

King kicks a checkside on the run and the Suns have two early majors!

Suns on the board within a minute

A bad error from Nathan Broad where he spoils instead of the taking an uncontested mark sees the pill spill to the Suns.

Christian Petracca eventually gets on the end of it, and he drops the pass perfectly into Ben King for the first shot at goal!

It’s a delightful set shot and the Suns get the perfect start.
