St Kilda and GWS players have been sent back into the rooms just minutes from the scheduled first bounce of their clash at ENGIE Stadium.

Another lightning strike just before 4.30pm means the clash won’t begin until nearly an hour after the scheduled start time.

Both clubs were in the middle of their final warm-ups in the middle of the field before officials told them to leave the field.

It was the second time players had been forced from the field in the last hour, with lightning striking twice at ENGIE Stadium.

Play will stop for a minimum of 30 minutes, with the timer resetting if more lightning is recorded with 10km of the ground.

Players will return for an eight minute warm-up when safe.

GWS forward Jesse Hogan said they weren’t allowed onto the field.

“I normally go out an hour before (the start) but was told we weren’t allowed to, I think this is our second warning,” he said on Fox Footy.

“We’ve got to stay hyped for the next half an hour and take it from there.

“It’s been a bit of an eyrie game so hopefully we get out there.”
