Fermin Aldeguer could remain on a Gresini MotoGP bike in 2027, according to team boss Michele Masini.
Aldeguer joined MotoGP last season with Gresini on a contract – signed at the beginning of 2024 – that tied him to Ducati, which then placed him at Gresini.
Gresini is yet to renew its deal with Ducati for 2027 when MotoGP’s new 850cc regulations are introduced, and has no riders signed.
Team manager Masini has insisted, though, that there is still a chance for the Gresini Racing squad to remain with Ducati in 2027 and to keep Aldeguer, despite rumours linking the Spaniard with a move away from the team next season.
“Our situation, actually, is that we are still speaking with Ducati,” said Masini, speaking to the MotoGP world feed broadcast during the delay for track repairs before the Sprint in Brazil.

He added that Gresini has “options” for its riders in 2027, including Aldeguer.
“We have a lot of options regarding the riders for 2027.
“One of those is Fermin Aldeguer.
“I think that everything, all the options are on the table and just we need more time.”
Masini’s comments came after a Friday in Brazil that saw reports emerge that Aldeguer, who stepped up to MotoGP with Gresini Racing in 2025, is likely to move to the VR46 Racing Team in 2027.

The suggestion that Aldeguer could move to the VR46 team next year was supported by comments from Pablo Nieto, who spoke extremely highly of Aldeguer, saying he is one of the top two young talents in MotoGP at the moment.
Aldeguer missed all of the 2026 MotoGP preseason after breaking his femur while training in the winter. He is racing this weekend for the first time this season, having been replaced by Michele Pirro in Thailand.
The Murcian had a strong qualifying, setting the seventh-best time in Q2 to qualify ahead of his teammate, Alex Marquez, for his first race back from injury.
However, Aldeguer’s Sprint was ruined from the start as he span the rear tyre off the line and dropped to 18th on the first lap. He finished 14th in the end.
