Men’s Tennis Secures Sunday Sweep Over Wagner, 7-0

FAIRFAX, Va. — George Mason University defeated Wagner College 7-0 on Sunday at the Mason Tennis Complex. The Patriots secured the doubles point with victories across all three flights and swept all six singles matches.

George Mason secured the doubles point decisively against Wagner College with victories across all completed matches. The pairing of Niza Simunyola and Edgar Vilain set the tone with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles over Pablo Rodriguez and Joshua Zhao. Monil Lotlikar and Ekansh Kumar followed with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles against Lukas Escher and Eddie Schmidt, clinching the point for the Patriots. At No. 3 doubles, Deniz Okyay and Shari Saeed concluded the sweep with a 6-3 win over Tom Lamers and Sebastian Dobson.

In singles, the Green & Gold continued its dominance. Okyay opened with a 6-4, 3-1 win at No. 1 singles after Schmidt retired from the match, while Simunyola added a point at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Rodriguez. Kumar triumphed in a challenging match at No. 3 singles, overcoming Lamers 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. 

Lotlikar further extended the lead with a three-set win at No. 2 singles, defeating Escher 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Vilain secured a comeback victory at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 6-0, 10-6 against Vibhu Challagundla. Finally, Nicholas Novitski closed the comprehensive performance for the Patriots with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 win at No. 6 singles over Zhao.
