Broadcaster Tom Elliott says he’ll look to create a fresh start after being hacked on social media platform X.
As he recovers from hip replacement surgery, the 3AW mornings host was targeted by hackers with two posts on the platform, formerly Twitter, on Monday.
One of the posts, written in all capital letters, referred to his recent hospital stay.
“I’m back, It’s been a long and difficult journey in hospital, and even when all hope seemed lost, God gave me a second chance at life. I truly missed you all and deeply appreciate your prayers and support. Tom Elliott is back stronger than ever!”
The other post to his more than 20,000 followers was a picture of US president Donald Trump and the late JFK with the caption “Great Maga”.
Elliott said he was trying to get the issue rectified.
“I hadn’t used Twitter or X for a long time,’’ he said, noting his last post was in 2021.
“I can guarantee it’s not me. And I’d never do things in all capitals. Rest assured I’m working on it and might create a new account.”
Elliott was off for part of last week and hopes to return to the microphone later this week.
“I hope to, if I do it’ll be from home as I don’t have the mobility at the moment,’’ Elliott said.
