SUPERCARS has discussed the possibility of adding an international flavour back into the annual Gold Coast event.
Surfers Paradise famously hosted IndyCar/Champ Car for the best part of two decades before becoming a Supercars-led spectacle from 2009 onwards.
V8 Sleuth understands there had at least been some investigation into bringing a NASCAR-type of demonstration to town, although the topic has seemingly gone cold more recently.
“We’re looking at all of our Gold Coast plans,” Supercars CEO James Warburton recently told V8 Sleuth.
“One of the things we’re looking at with every event is how we can really accelerate the fan experience.
“We’d love to look at something on the Gold Coast which had a bit more of an international flavour to it, but there’s nothing to report at this stage other than that we’re active in discussions.
“If we can get something up or a demo of some description, something exciting for our fans, like we saw in Adelaide obviously with the F1 car.
“If we could do something similar, that would be pretty cool.”
The 2026 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will take place across October 23-25.
