On June 29-30 in Denver, industry leaders from RSNs, teams, leagues, and streaming platforms will address both the significant challenges facing the business and the exciting opportunities ahead. This must-attend event will dive into key industry developments, including advancements in live production workflows, direct-to-consumer and authenticated streaming, remote and centralized operations, labor and staffing, league and team partnerships, and the evolving landscape of regional sports media rights.
This year’s agenda, which has once again been spearheaded by the SVG Regional Sports Production Advisory Committee, will focus on how production teams can adapt to the tectonic shift taking place in the RSN industry. The morning will be headlined by an annual State of the Industry address from sports-media veteran and strategic advisor Patrick Crakes, as well as keynote conversation with with MLB Local Media.
Major League Baseball has turned regional sports turmoil into opportunity by revolutionizing the industry, producing local broadcasts for 14 clubs and adding cutting-edge production innovations like live drones, Wire Cam, Umpire Cam, and deeper player access that rivals any national broadcast — all in addition to handling in-market streaming and local linear TV distribution for nearly half the league. MLB Local Media leaders Doug Johnson, (SVP and Executive Producer) and Kendall Burgess (VP of Operations) discuss how they built this operation, what’s driving expansion, and what the future of locally produced baseball looks like in a rapidly changing media landscape.
