Midfield recruit Harry Schoenberg has been locked in to make his West Coast Eagles debut against Port Adelaide in round three on Sunday.
The 25-year-old, who played 62 games for Adelaide, joined the Eagles in November and made an immediate impression with his work ethic and skill.
Schoenberg was unavailable for round one due to suspension but has been named for his first game in blue and gold at Adelaide Oval.
West Coast has also called draftee Josh Lindsay, experienced back Tom Cole, small forward Malakai Champion and tall defender Sandy Brock into its 26-player squad, which will be trimmed to a final 23 at 2pm AWST on Friday.
The Eagles will be forced into at least two changes with key defender Harry Edwards (concussion) and exciting forward Milan Murdock (hamstring) injured during the victory over North Melbourne.
Schoenberg becomes the seventh new Eagle to feature this season after Deven Robertson, Tylar Young, Willem Duursma, Cooper Duff-Tytler, Lindsay and Murdock played their first games in round one.
He will be the 312th player to pull on the West Coast Eagles guernsey in an AFL match.
“It’s obviously a great moment for me,” Schoenberg said.
“I came across here to West Coast from Adelaide Crows and I get my opportunity to play this weekend.
“I’m delighted, all the boys got around me. It was a special moment when ‘Mini’ (Andrew McQualter) announced it.
“It is a full circle moment. I get to go back home to Adelaide, obviously I played a fair few games there at Adelaide Oval as a Crow, so it will be good to get home and play in front of family and friends.”
The Eagles’ clash against the Power gets underway at 12pm on Sunday (9.30am AWST) and will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7-plus in WA, and nationally on Fox Footy and Kayo.
