Wrapping up the massive first Like A Version month, it’s none other than the young Noongar Wongi rapper, Inkabee taking on Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Where Is The Love?’.
It’s been a few years since we first met the Boorloo/Perth-based artist is now a teenager and stepping right into his own sound.
“Me and my mum were driving in the car and we already had our Like A Version song picked out,” he said.
“But we were just listening to songs and ‘Where Is The Love?’ came on. We were listening and I just thought it’s the most perfect song for how the world is right now.”
Flanked by a full band for the first time, Inkabee worked his confident flow through the 2003 breakout hit from the Los Angeles hip hop collective.
Deeply inspired by his mob and family, Inkabee is determined to put Indigenous excellence on the map. Let’s just say being one of the youngest artists to step into the Like A Version studio is definitely helping that plan.
