Cobbo, who was on the outer at the Broncos last year, seriously considered a huge play from the Dragons but instead inked a one-year prove-it deal with Brisbane’s cross town rivals.

That’s according to Cobbo’s agent Tas Bartlett, who, ahead of Friday night’s Battle of Brisbane, lifted the lid on how his client came to sign with the Dolphins.
The pair flew to Sydney midway through last year to meet with Dragons brass, but as per reported by Code Sports, despite the $4.3 million offer, the two parties couldn’t agree on what position Cobbo would play.
“Selwyn had huge offers on the table,” Bartlett said.
Bartlett revealed that he and Cobbo initially met with Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf earlier in the year, before linking up again after the Dragons talks fell through.
“The Dolphins were in the picture for some time,” Bartlett said.
“He loves the relaxed environment of the Dolphins … He can’t be happier.

“It’s a different type of pressure to the Broncos, but a lot of his happiness has to do with
‘Woolfy’. Woolfy can take a lot of credit for Selwyn’s form.
“I actually met with them at the start of last year. Selwyn was a free agent, so I had a preliminary meeting with the Dolphins to explore some options.
“We met before a ball had been kicked because it looked very clear that the Broncos were going to struggle to afford Selwyn under the salary cap.
“It had nothing to do really with Selwyn being upset over being in reserve grade. The Broncos had simply put their salary cap into other blokes and they weren’t going to be able to renew him on the money he was on.”
Cobbo is setting himself up for another big-money offer, with the 23-year-old a big reason behind the club’s 2-1 start.
Through three games, Cobbo has a try, three line breaks and is averaging over 155 metres per game on the wing.
