Lewis Hamilton is under investigation at the Japanese GP for an incident with Max Verstappen in Free Practice 1.
The FIA has since confirmed the investigation for driving unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a way that could be deemed dangerous to others.
After the session had finished, in which the two finished in sixth and seventh, Hamilton was initially noted for the Turn 15 incident involving Verstappen, which is 130R towards the end of the lap.Â
The incident for which Hamilton must answer to the stewards was unseen on the world feed on TV.
Elsewhere, four other drivers are off to the stewards, with Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson forming the first pair, as the Williams blocked Lawson’s Racing Bulls out of the hairpin exit mid-way through the session.
Towards the end of it, topped by Mercedes’ George Russell, Alex Albon in the Williams clattered into Sergio Perez’s Cadillac at the final chicane, Perez not being aware of the Thai driver (below).
