Gruzewski nails an important goal for the Giants

GRUUUUUUUUU

A much-needed goal for the Giants as Max Gruzewski is the beneficiary of a 50m penalty.

This match is eerily similar to last night’s clash where the Cats couldn’t quite put the Crows away all night.

3m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 9:27amMoore back on the ground after passing fitness test

There you go! Darcy Moore is back on the ground after his little injury scare.

It’ll be interesting to see just how well he’s able to move out there, but let’s see.

I don’t think the Pies would let him go back out there if there was any serious risk of injury.

Moore is back on Collingwood’s bench, still no word on return

Collingwood is yet to rule Darcy Moore out from returning, but the signs don’t appear promising.

Moore was going through somewhat of a fitness test in the rooms, kicking the footy, and was visibly wincing in pain after each kick.

Nevertheless, he’s sitting on the bench, albeit with a worried facial expression to say the least.

Long kicks Pies out to 20-point lead

This margin is getting to a dangerous size if you’re the Giants.

Josh Daicos with a brilliant kick inside 50 and he finds Ned Long camped wide open.

Long goes back and drills the easy set shot.

Darcy Moore is still in the Pies rooms

Any news on Darcy Moore nervy pies fan here hopeful for no damage

– Bailey

The quarter-time break has come and gone and there is no sign of Darcy Moore.

I’d guess that his night is done. It’s uncertain exactly what he’s done, but he definitely pulled up sore after going for a run and kick off halfback.

We’ll let you know once we get an official word from the Pies.

17m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 9:14amFuel rationing on the radar for AFLAndrew Dillon(Getty Images)

Kelli Underwood has reported on the ABC Sport call tonight that the AFL has discussed the possibility of fuel rationing and its impact on the 2026 season.

The national cabinet is set to meet next week at which point the government may look to introduce a number of measures to combat declining fuel supplies, which may include a restriction on air travel. If that was to eventuate, Underwood suggests it may force the league to look at a number of options, including something akin to the COVID hubs.

Underwood reports the issue was raied at a meeting of AFL chief executives on Thursday, and that the GWS Giants specifically have confirmed it is “on their radar”.

One to watch in the weeks ahead.

A late goal to Jake Riccardi has made the scoreboard look a little better from a Giants perspective, but it’s still the Pies on top.

The ball has been pinging from end to end and the Pies seem to have adjusted to the pace a little better thus far.

Tim Membrey has been excellent up forward as Collingwood’s focal point, kicking three goals and taking four marks as well.

Collingwood looks extremely dangerous everytime they go inside 50, while the Giants have entered their attacking 50 a little haphazardly.

Giants midfielder Finn Callaghan is the leading ball-winner on the ground with 12 touches, and he’s gained 235m.

Nick Daicos leads the way for the Pies with 10 touches and two clearances.

Clayton Oliver’s also off to a fast start, and has 10 touches and three clearances.

A big injury concern for the Pies as skipper Darcy Moore headed into the rooms after pulling up sore.

We’ll keep you updated on his status as the game progresses.

21m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 9:10amMoore the latest Magpie to go down into the rooms

Collingwood skipper Darcy Moore has gone down into the rooms after pulling up a little stiff.

Moore came into the game with a calf issue, and I wonder whether that’s still bothering him.

Membrey continues his dream quarter with third goal

Tim Membrey is up and about this evening!

This is a lovely kick inside 50 from Jack Crisp, just puts it to space and allows Membrey to lead towards the ball, where he takes a towering contested grab.

Membrey’s got three goals now from four kicks.

Membrey makes it two as Collingwood takes the attack

The Pies are looking extremely dangerous every time they’re going forward.

After GWS sent the ball inside 50 on 12 consecutive occasions, only yielding four behinds, the Pies go BANG, BANG.

Tim Membrey snaps up a loose ball inside 50 and snaps through his second goal of the night.

McStay goals after Pies force forward half turnover

True to their coach’s promise, the Giants are running and gunning out there.

With that risk comes reward, but there is definitely risk, and we see it here as the kamikaze style of play results in a turnover.

It ends in an easy goal to Dan McStay, who dribbles one home from close range.

Giants easing into the game after slow start

Adam Kingsley will be happy with how his side has steadied after Collingwood’s early double-strike.

GWS has 12 inside 50s to Collingwood’s six midway through the first quarter.

Nick Daicos off to a flying start

This isn’t really a surprise, but Nick Daicos is getting truckloads of the footy out there.

Daicos already has eight disposals, three inside 50s and a clearance and leads all players with 173m gained.

39m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 8:52amDaicos set to return after shoulder injury

Good news for Collingwood!

Josh Daicos has emerged from the changerooms and looks in good spirits on the Pies bench.

He’ll be able to return to the ground again shortly.

42m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 8:49amJosh Daicos injured after being tackled by debutant

An early injury concern for the Magpies here with Josh Daicos going down into the rooms.

Daicos was crunched in a tackle by Ollie Hannaford a few minutes ago and emerged worse for wear.

It’s uncertain exactly what the issue is, but it’s something to do with the upper body for sure, potentially a shoulder.

We’ll keep you updated.

Gothard gets the Giants on the board with a brilliant dribbler!

Phoenix Gothard with a hell of a finish from the pocket!

Gothard dribbles one home from a right angle and gets a brilliant bounce as the ball kicks up over Brayden Maynard’s head as he tried to smother it on the goal line.

Giants with a much-needed steadier.

Schultz goals after winning free kick inside 50

Geez, Joe Fonti is so stiff here.

Lachie Schultz is getting tackled and therefore falls forward into Fonti and the umpire blows the whistle for high contact.

I’m not too sure about that call, to be fair.

Schultz, directly in front of goal around 35m out, slots it and the Pies are off to a flyer!

Membrey delivers instant strike for Collingwood

A dream start for the Magpies despite losing the first centre clearance!

The Pies were able to transition far too easily and Scott Pendlebury sends one inside 50 where Tim Membrey takes an excellent diving one-handed mark.

Membrey makes no mistake on the set shot from close range.

50m agoFri 27 Mar 2026 at 8:41amPlay is underway between Collingwood and GWS

We’re off and running at Docklands Stadium!

As Craig McRae said, Oscar Steene is indeed in at the first bounce.

Pies veteran Scott Pendlebury stands side by side with Giants skipper Toby Greene in the middle as well.

Here we go!
