Mitch Owens answers back for the Saints
They needed that, because the Lions had been getting themselves on top in the third.
The Saints went quickly out of the centre bounce through Phillipou, and Owens took a really strong grab high above his head. Set shot was finished off and the Saints are more than hanging around.

Zac Bailey mowed him down! Great tackle and goal!
He had Jack Sinclair in his sights from miles away and just steamed straight at the Saints defender. Sinclair flinched, fumbled and was flattened by Bailey just outside the goalsquare.
That’s an inspirational goal for the Lions who now lead it by 11 points.

Jarrod Berry goals and the Lions are back in front
Goals galore! Berry took the mark from a short pass inside 50, and then copped a little clip high from the attempted spoil of the Saints defender.
The umpire payed the 50m penalty and marched Berry to the line to make sure of the goal. Lions in front!

It might just be opening up a little. Really strong mark by Rayner in the contest and then a pure set shot.

Confirmation the kit clash is affecting the players
Ben Dixon on Fox Footy’s coverage has just reported the word from the Lions’ camp is that this guernsey clash is causing some issues for the players.
Especially the backs of the kits, with the numbers on both sides having the same colour. Glad it’s not just me whinging. It’s a bad error.

He’s one of the best set-shot snappers in the league. That was a bomb from the little fella, worked back through the middle to perfection.
Saints go straight out of the middle for the answering goal. Hot start to the third term.

Charlie Cameron gets an early goal for the Lions
Cameron slips into some space as the Lions work it forward, and then Coleman’s inboard kick to find him was sensational.
Great kick and then a great finish. Hopefully a sign of things to come in the second half.

Interesting game. Weird game. Not always a good game.
Both sides seem very keen to move the ball with short and precise kicking as the top priority, but the skills from both have been lacking. Both sides have also looked best when they have got out and run with the ball, but there have only been a few instances of that happening.
Something is still off with the Lions, but they are very much in this game and if they tighten up their ball use and turnovers a little they could easily flip the game right around. But the Saints are certainly up for the fight and deserve their slight lead.
Second half won’t be far away.

Liam Ryan has two in a row! Saints stretch the lead
Liam Ryan called his own free kick there! He was definitely taken high, but he did the little knee-drop shoulder thing to help the contact slip up. At first there was no whistle, but as play stopped with him laying on the ground somebody in green decided to step in and call the free kick.
He slots his set shot and has really started to come alive in this quarter.

Liam Ryan slams through another! Game is opening up
Liam Ryan was caught between taking the shot on the run or dishing off to NWM in the goalsquare, and in the end made the right call at the last second.
Good footy there from the Saints, real speed on the ball with run and handball back through the middle. Saints lead again.

Levi Ashcroft sends it home!
That’s a shocker for the Saints to give away. The ball was trickling towards the line and two Saints players looked to let it run out, but not Cam Rayner.
He kept the ball alive and caught the defence napping, and a couple of quick handballs gave Ashcroft the chance to bomb home off a step from 40. Nice goal.

It’s getting spicy now!
So it turned out it was Liam Ryan who dumped Berry off the ball while the goal was being kicked. Then Wanganeen-Milera and Berry got into it again as the ball came back to the middle, with Nas’s jumper punches being penalised with a free kick in the middle of the ground.
Starting to get feisty, five minutes to play in this second quarter.

Cooper Sharman has his second and the Saints are back in front
Bit of a stink going on after the goal is kicked. Berry is down and sore, and has been in a scrap with NWM all day. Have to check that one out on the replay.
Anyway, the goal. Great mark and goal from Sharman, who is starting to work his way into the game.

Oscar Allen has a second for the Lions
He snuck out the back of the contest at half-forward and had the entire forward 50 all to himself there, Allen. He could have played on and walked it in to goal but instead chose to settle and take the set shot.
Saints defence a bit lost there to leave Allen in so much space close to goal. Lions back in front.

This game is rough
Nobody can kick. The turnovers are absolutely out of hand. I swear the players are struggling with the kit clash because some of the efforts are embarrassing.
Kiddy Coleman had a set shot from 20 out and it fell five metres short. I don’t know what is going on out there right now.

Cooper Sharman kicks the goal, eventually!
It looked like Sharman was going to take a mark in the goalsquare. Then it looked like he would quickly snap the goal anyway. Then it looked like he was step one player and kick the goal. Then it looked like he would step two players and kick the goal. And then he did.
Made that look incredibly hard, but eventually Sharman gets the goal and puts the Saints back in front.

Oscar Allen puts the Lions in front
Jack Sinclair thought he had taken a clever intercept mark inside 50, but the “not 15” call suddenly put him in all sorts of trouble. The Lions turned it back over, centered the ball to Allen who did the rest.
Hasn’t been a great start to life at Brisbane for Allen, but maybe he can start to kickstart things with that goal.

Logan Morris finally breaks through for the Lions
Been a long time coming, but Brisbane has a goal. A dangerous kick came in low and flat towards Morris, who took a good position ahead of Wilkie and got a wee little nudge in the back for his troubles.
He makes no mistake with his set shot, and finally the Lions are away.
