Aussie pop legend Kylie Minogue has been locked in to perform at this year’s AFL grand final.
In a major coup for the AFL, Minogue will lead headline the pre-game entertainment at the MCG.
“The AFL Grand Final at Melbourne’s one and only, forever iconic MCG? Yes please!” Minogue told the Herald Sun on Sunday.
“As a Melburnian, I’m so excited to be coming home for the biggest day in the Aussie sporting calendar.
“I’ll not only be performing, but I’ll be one of 100,000 fans at the ‘G, watching the wonder that is footy.”
It comes the same day the AFL confirmed it would lock in a 2.30pm start time for the grand final for at least the next two years.
The AFL has long chased Minogue to perform on its biggest day.
The 57-year-old began her career on long-running soap opera Neighbours before becoming a global superstar, winning two Grammys, 18 Arias and four Britpop awards.
She is Australia’s most successful female artist having created monster hits such as I Should Be So Lucky, Locomotion, Spinning Around and Can’t Get You Out of My Head.
