GadgetGuy Editor Chris Button took home the trophy for Best Technology Reviewer at the 2026 Samsung Australian IT Journalism Awards (affectionately known as ‘The Lizzies’), recognising a strong year of providing advice on how to choose and use consumer technology.

Button (writing this in third-person) joined GadgetGuy as Editor in late 2022 after writing for the site while working for Byteside. Since then, he has honed his review style to focus on more than just specs and features. Consumer technology is inherently personal, so reviews should reflect the human experience of how people use gadgets.

Regular GadgetGuy contributor Adam Turner also received Highly Commended for Best Technology Reviewer, capping off a fantastic 2025 filled with phones, EV technology, and home solar batteries.

Another highlight of the night was Helen Meredith receiving the Pioneer of IT Media Award. Meredith, who recently turned 90, was recognised for her more than 40-year involvement in journalism, including her work in uplifting women in the IT sector.

Best Journalist, also known as the ‘Golden Lizzie’, went to David Swan from The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, while The Guardian Australia won Best Coverage.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists at the 2026 Samsung Australian IT Journalism Awards, which was a great celebration of the technology media industry. Thank you to the organisers at Influencing for a memorable event, and the judges for recognising GadgetGuy‘s work and that of all the very deserving winners on the night.
