Kevin Rudd has left his role as Australia’s ambassador in Washington, concluding his posting this week. But in a note to colleagues, the former prime minister remarked, “You haven’t quite gotten rid of me yet”.
In Rudd’s own words, his time in the embassy was marked by proud achievements.
“I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, professionalism and friendship over the past three years,” Rudd wrote in an email to colleagues on January 12 with the subject line “A personal note from me”.
