This year’s NFL Draft class is very weak overall at the quarterback position.

There is a sense that teams could wait until the loaded 2027 QB class to select a signal-caller, with big names such as Arch Manning and LaNorris Sellers part of a crowded group.

As it stands for 2026, Indiana Hoosiers QB and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza figures to be locked in at No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders.

That leaves Alabama’s Ty Simpson as the QB2 of this class, and there isn’t much debate on that front.

With April nearly here, Simpson is already drawing heavy interest from QB-needy teams with some visits scheduled, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

“Bama QB Ty Simpson, one of the NFL Draft’s top players at his position, has scheduled Top 30 visits with the #AZCardinals, #Dolphins, and #Browns, per me and @MikeGarafolo. In addition, Simpson had a private workout with the #Jets.”

Simpson already had a workout with the New York Jets, and they just traded for Geno Smith in his return to the franchise.

The Cardinals, Browns and Dolphins all make sense to an extent, although the Dolphins just signed Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal, so Simpson would likely be a backup for at least the next couple of years if he goes to Miami.

The Browns already have plenty of quarterbacks with Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Deshaun Watson, and owner Jimmy Haslam recently said that he expects Watson to be able to compete for the QB1 job.

The Cardinals make a lot of sense, and currently, it is a battle between Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew with new head coach Mike LaFleur in the desert.

The Cardinals have been linked as a team that could trade up from Round 2 into the later part of Round 1 to select Simpson, if he is still on the board in the 20s.

That figures to be a very realistic scenario, but it will be interesting to see how Simpson’s profile changes leading up to the NFL Draft.
