Only 90.5% of children are now fully vaccinated at 12 months, down from 94.8% five years ago, new data show.

Full vaccine coverage at five years has also fallen to 92.5%, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2025.

This translated to 80,000 children not fully vaccinated, said NCIRS director Professor Kristine Macartney.

She said Australia needed to do something to get its immunisation program “back on track”.
