A pedestrian has died after being hit by a bus in the Adelaide CBD.

Police say the 39-year-old woman from North Adelaide died at the scene after being hit by the Adelaide Metro bus about 5pm yesterday at the intersection of King William Road and Victoria Drive.

Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes said it was a “horrible” crash and people who needed it could seek counselling through SA Police.

“I do understand that a lot of people witnessed this crash and the immediate aftermath of it,” she told 891 ABC Adelaide.

“We’re asking anyone who witnessed it who’s not yet spoken to police to please contact us.

“We also can put you in touch with resources to help deal with the trauma because I do understand it was a pretty horrific crash.”

King William Road was closed for about five hours while Major Crash investigators examined the scene, but has now reopened.

The woman’s death was the 30th life lost on South Australian roads this year, including two pedestrians.

Two other pedestrians hurt

The death follows two other pedestrians being hit by cars and injured this week in Adelaide.

A 13-year-old boy was hit by a car on Winston Avenue in Cumberland Park on Tuesday evening, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver allegedly left the scene of the crash but then returned 40 minutes later to speak with police.

On Monday, a 32-year-old woman from Camden Park suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car outside Seaview High School on Seacombe Road in Seacombe Gardens.

A 62-year-old woman from Brighton was charged with causing harm by dangerous driving.
