A 3 minute PM video extrapolated to a half hour analysis was a winner for Seven News.

Last night all five Free to Air networks carried a 3 minute address from PM Albanese on the fuel crisis facing the nation.

ABC and SBS carried it within their news bulletins, Nine within A Current Affair and 10 ahead of its quiz show.

Seven went all-in, analysing it live from Canberra with Michael Usher, Mark Riley and various guests.

To their credit it drew 1.22m for Seven News Extended, beating A Current Affair and netting a number higher than Home & Away would have in the same slot.

Furthermore, Seven’s soap screening in a 7:30 slot, managed a timeslot win at 1.08m then 7:30 (993,000), Tipping Point: Celebrity Special (744,000), Australian Survivor (432,000) and Tonight at the Museum (421,000).

Later The 1% Club was 833,000 from 8pm then The Front Bar (614,000), Travel Guides (520,000), The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (516,000).

Nine News was 1.4m then A Current Affair (1.18m), then Tipping Point (747,000) and something called One Tank Holiday -which sounds like branded TV with ex-Block contestants to me (298,000).

ABC News was 1.06m then Hard Quiz (348,000), Can You Keep a Secret? (207,000) and Melbourne Comedy Festival (157,000).
