BMF Champion Charles Oliveira has hit back at Nate Diaz, stating he is not interested in a bout.

Fresh off a masterclass at UFC 326 in March—where he shut out Max Holloway with a 50-45 sweep to claim the BMF title—Oliveira is prioritizing a return to a lightweight title shot. Diaz claimed he would “beat the f***g st” out of the Brazilian. Oliveira, 36, showed little interest in Diaz’s provocations.

With the lightweight title unification between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje set to headline the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House, Oliveira is positioning himself. Oliveira confirmed his readiness to serve as the official backup fighter for the June 14 main event.

However, the “BMF” holder has demanded a formal guarantee: if his services aren’t required, he must be the next in line for the winner. A potential clash with Topuria would be a shot at redemption for Oliveira. In July 2025 at UFC 317, Topuria shocked the world by stopping “Do Bronx” with a clinical right hook in the first round to capture the vacant title. Oliveira noted his concern that if Topuria wins in June, the Spaniard might look to jump to 170 lbs to face Islam Makhachev.

Oliveira Reacts

“We’ve heard so many times that Conor is coming back and nothing happens. But one of the reasons I believe he might return this time is that Dana usually wouldn’t say anything, and this time he has spoken. So I do believe he could come back to fight at [International] Fight Week. I’m going after the title. I want to become champion again, but I think nobody is naive, everyone is doing the math.

“The belt will be unified in June. I could be a backup for the fight. But I stay focused on training, make weight, and when I get there, there’s no fight [for me]. I think that if Topuria wins, he moves up a division and the belt becomes vacant. Regardless of whether it becomes vacant or not, I’m next in line. And then imagine the UFC says, July or August, let’s make a fight for you against this or that,” Oliveira said
