The Washington Commanders have just six picks in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, which is just 19 days away. NFL draft analysts and experts have not formed a consensus on which players the Commanders will select with their No. 7 overall pick. We have seen a variety of names associated with the Commanders on both sides of the ball, with no one really certain on who the pick will be.
Of course, the pick largely depends on which players are available. In a seven-round mock draft by CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards, Carnell Tate, Sonny Styles, and Arvell Reese are off the board when it comes time to pick. So, the Commanders end up selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
Washington first signed Austin Ekeler and then approached the position aÌ€ la carte — a little bit of this, a little bit of that to fill the room. Jeremiyah Love is the full menu, and he would take a lot of pressure off Jayden Daniels. Running back is a need, and options are limited in this draft class.
Here’s the thing, though. Running back isn’t a huge need for the Commanders. They have other, more pressing needs on defense and at wide receiver, so would they pass on Caleb Downs and Rueben Bain Jr? Love is definitely a top talent in this draft, and it won’t be easy for any team to pass on him, but Peters is limited with his picks in 2026, so he’s going to be very intentional about his selections.
The rest of the mock goes as follows for the Commanders:

With most of the Commanders’ needs falling on the defensive side of the ball, some of these selections are surprising. Not that they won’t happen, but there will be a larger focus on defense, especially in the early rounds.
The Commanders are likely to draft a wide receiver at some point, but they also need a center after releasing Tyler Biadasz. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated Nick Allegretti will compete for the job, but Washington isn’t done there. Everything else on the offensive line is set after Chris Paul’s return.
What the Commanders ultimately decide to do remains secret for now, and may be hidden until the draft starts in 19 days.
