The Lindenwood Women’s Tennis team fell 7-0 on Tuesday to SIUE to drop to 3-1 in the OVC standings. Fabiana Labrador, Megan Caffin, and Mathilde Humbert all took their opponents to three sets in singles play, but ultimately all three fell in the winner-take-all third set. With the loss, the Lions move into second place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with one more match to go. The final OVC regular season match is scheduled for Monday afternoon in Cape Girardeau, Mo against the SEMO Redhawks.
Scouting SEMO
The Redhawks are coming off of a 4-3 loss at Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon and dropped to 1-2 in the OVC standings. SEMO’s lone conference win this season has come against Southern Indiana on their home tennis court by a score of 6-1, and the Black and Red are led by Junior Maja Bajorek. Bajorek was just recently named the OVC Singles Player of the Week which marked the first time this season that she has won the award. The Junior primarily has played at the number one and two spots this season, and has won seven singles matches to lead the way for the Redhawks.
In the all-time series, the Lions are 0-2 against SEMO and will look to pick up their first all-time victory against them since joining the OVC back in 2023.
Stats To Know
With a win over SEMO on Monday, the Lions can clinch their most conference wins in a single season at the Division I level with four.
Sofija Dunisijevic and Megan Caffin are tied for the team lead in singles wins with seven.
Caffin and Mathilde Humbert are undefeated as doubles partners in conference play with a record of 2-0.
