Less than two months after shuttering Bluepoint Games, PlayStation has announced its acquisition of Cinemersive Labs, a UK-based company built around machine learning and computer vision.
Cinemersive Labs, which opened its doors in 2022, “brings together a specialized team with deep expertise in computer vision and machine learning.”
The acquisition strengthens PlayStation’s ability to “explore new ways to push the boundaries of visual computing and deliver richer, more immersive gameplay experiences,” according to their statement.
Once the acquisition is final, Cinemersive Labs will join SIE’s Visual Computing Group, which was formed in 2024 to broaden the company’s research and development resources in unique technical skills related to high-performance computing.
