TAMPA, Fla. – The Brown women’s rugby team (14-8) defeated Harvard (11-2), 19-7, and fell to Life University (22-0), 28-5, in the semifinals on day two of the Tropical 7s tournament on Saturday.

Brown def. Harvard (W, 19-7):

The Bears started with a 19-7 win against Harvard to advance to the semifinals.. Harvard scored first, taking a 7-0 lead in the opening two minutes. The Bears answered as Julia Murray scored a try and kicked two conversions, while Charlotte Davies and Laryssa Barbosa each added a try, resulting in the Bears’ comeback and win.

6:00 – Brown Try (Murray) – 7-5 Harvard

Brown Conversion (Murray) – 7-7 Tie

8:00 – Brown Try (Davies) – 12-7 Brown

12:00 – Brown Try (Barbosa) – 17-7 Brown

Life def. Brown (L, 28-5):

The Bears fell in the semifinal match to Life University, 28-5. The Running Eagles took a 14-0 lead into the break and tacked on another try to begin the second half. Shortly after, Barbosa scored the Bears’ only try of the game.
