Nikola Jokic spoke highly of his matchup against Victor Wembanyama, calling him the most unique player in the league.

One of the most exciting battles of the bigs went down in Denver on Saturday, as the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets defeated the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs and their superstar Victor Wembanyama, 136–134.

The matchup saw both MVP candidates put on a show, finishing the game with dominant stat lines.

Nikola Jokic finished with 40 points (13/25 FG, 1/5 3PT, 13/15 FT), 8 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Wemby tried everything in his power to stop the Nuggets, recording 34 points (8/17 FG, 2/6 3PT, 16/17 FT), 18 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 blocks.

After the game, Jokic spoke highly of his matchup against Wemby, calling him the most unique player in the league.

“He’s the most unique player on both sides of the floor,” Jokic said of Wemby postgame.

“He challenges you in so many ways defensively because of his ability to shoot the ball. He’s one dribble from the basket, dunking the ball, a lob threat. If you’re one millisecond late, it’s probably a basket. He challenges the whole league to put bodies on him and push him around,” he added.

With this win, the Nuggets are now only half a game behind the third-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference standings, with a 50–28 record.

Meanwhile, the Spurs will most likely remain the second seed, nine games ahead of the third seed, with a 59–19 record.
