Cricket is returning to the heart of Colchester as residents are invited to a kick-off weekend.
Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club are preparing for the 2026 season and are hosting its season starter on Saturday, April 11.

Open to members, families and new players, the event will feature a training session and barbecue.
On Sunday, there will be a free open training session for new junior players, with a session for boys between 12pm and 2pm, and girls between 2pm and 4pm.

Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club enjoyed a standout 2025 season, with the 1st XI crowned Essex League Premier Division champions.

The club, based at Castle Park, has played there since 1908, making it one of Colchester’s longest-running sporting homes.
Castle Park also hosted regular Essex County Cricket weeks until they ended in 2016.
