Another year of Married At First Sight Australia has officially wrapped and the ending was somehow even more explosive than we expected. With a season mired by over the top drama, walk outs, betrayals, and even bullying, we were perhaps naïve to think the finale may arrive with anything less than shocks and (even more) betrayals.
But amongst all the drama of the evening, there was one bright light shining through it all. Of course, we’re talking about Steven and Rachel. Thankfully, these two didn’t do the usual reality TV run around with one another, leaving the other to sweat through ambiguous vows until the final moment. The couple’s relationship was somewhat of a rollercoaster, which was reflected in the vows, but they didn’t use this moment as an opportunity to sow doubt, either. Instead, they were upfront with one another about their feelings and quickly put any doubts to rest for one another.

“Our journey hasn’t been smooth sailing,” Rachel said, detailing the many ups and downs through their experiment. But in the end, their vows reflected the happy place they’d landed at. “You’ve let me be me, completely. And, that’s all I’ve ever wanted,” Rachel told Steven in her emotional final vows. “I choose you. I want this. I want you.”
When it was Steven’s turn, he addressed their past issues before quickly returning serve with a love declaration of his own. “Of course, not everything was easy. I won’t lie, there have been moments in the experiment where I seriously questioned everything,” Steven said. “I remember the moment things shifted, it was the way you looked at me when I finally let my guard drop. The way you stood by me when I thought I didn’t deserve it. I stopped trying to protect myself from being hurt and holding back in fear of rejection.
“You saw me, you accepted me, all of me, Steve-O. You’ve taught me that love isn’t about perfection, it’s about being real,” he said. “I choose you. I choose your smile, your laugh, your fire.”
Are MAFS Couple Steven And Rachel Still Together?
Though their final vows were undeniably heart warming, it seems that Rachel and Steven sadly broke up shortly after filming wrapped. “Rachel gave everything to that relationship and everyone saw Steven start to come around at the end,” a source reportedly told Refinery29 Australia. But apparently, the final straw was when Steven failed to make any plans to visit Rachel.
At the same time, Steven has reportedly been spotted hitting the town with fellow contestant Joel, and Rachel was rumoured to be getting cosy with Big Brother contestant, Bruce Dunne, according to New Idea.
