The Tattoos for Tails Charity Art Exhibition united 40 Perth-based tattoo artists at Terrace Greenhouse in South Fremantle across the weekend, with art and community combining in support of animal rescues across WA.

Founded by Sam Dunbar, alongside directors Jake Axl and Hayden De Mari, Tattoos for Tails continues to grow as a community-led initiative using art as a vessel to give back to animals in need.

The exhibition raised over $31,000 across the weekend, with 275 pieces sold and 153 individual orders placed. Of the 40 original artworks on display, 27 were sold, with 100 per cent of proceeds from original pieces donated directly to the artists’ chosen animal charities.

Opening night on April 3 was a standout moment, drawing crowds of more than 400 people within the first hour alone.

Additional to the artists displaying works, rescue volunteers, clients, and members of the public filled the space as they embraced the cause.

The event supported more than 15 animal rescues across WA, including organisations such as Dogs’ Refuge Home, Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, K9 Rescue Group, RSPCA and Swan Animal Haven.
