Getaway host Catriona Rowntree has shared the devastating news of her sister’s death.
Writing on Instagram on Friday night, the star said that “heaven has a new angel”.
“I am heartbroken to share that my beautiful, big sister Lucinda, passed away today,” Catriona, 54, wrote.
“Lucinda truly ‘threw kindness around like confetti’, everyone adored her.”
Lucinda, a teacher and mother of four, had been battling stage four cancer for a number of years.
Catriona thanked the people who supported her sister through her difficult health journey, saying: “our family experience so much kindness from others, thankyou so very much, it’s been treasured.”
She also gave a shoutout to the Dreams2Live4 charity which offers support to adults with terminal cancer, giving them the opportunity to do something they’ve always wanted to do. In Lucinda’s case, it was meet a quokka, which she was able to do a couple of years ago.
The post was met with lots of love including from fellow Channel 9 star Shelley Craft who wrote: “Thinking of you and all your family. Such beautiful words filled with love for your sister. I’m so sorry for your loss.”
“Beautiful words Treens. How truly sad I feel for you and the fam,” wrote Jules Lund.
