On Saturday night, the Twins pulled off a 7-4 win after falling 10-4 on Friday night. Joe Ryan took the win on the mound for Minnesota and improved to 2-1 on the year after throwing for seven innings in the start and striking out five batters while only giving up two earned runs. Brooks Lee led the Twins offensively, going 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI. Trevor Larnach was also impressive, smashing his first home run of the season over the right field wall to bring in three runs.
The Blue Jays opened the scoring in Saturday’s game with a two-run homer to right-center to bring home George Springer in the bottom of the first. The team didn’t bring another run home until the bottom of the ninth when Jesús Sánchez connected with a pitch and sent it to right center for a two-run homer, his second of the season. Eric Lauer got the start on Saturday and, subsequently, the loss after throwing for 5.1 innings and giving up all seven earned runs. He struck out three during his time on the mound.
On Sunday afternoon, the Twins will look to right-handed pitcher Taj Bradley, who is currently 2-0 on the season with an ERA of 1.08 and 22 strikeouts. The Blue Jays will use righty Max Scherzer, who is 1-1 with an ERA of 3.38 and has six strikeouts.
