HARRISONBURG, Va. — George Mason University (9-6) fell to James Madison University (13-7) 2-4 on Sunday at Hillside Courts. The Patriots secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, but James Madison claimed four of the six singles matches to win the contest.

George Mason secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Monil Lotlikar and Ekansh Kumar defeated Esteve Agusti and Aurelien Schmitt, 6-3, while Shari Saeed and Deniz Okyay clinched the point at No. 3 doubles, besting Harrison Lee and Francisco Sinopoli, 6-4. James Madison took the No. 2 doubles match as Zach Fleishman and Gur Libal overcame Edgar Vilain and Niza Simunyola, 6-4.

In singles play, James Madison quickly evened the score as Esteve Agusti defeated Lotlikar at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Francisco Sinopoli then gave James Madison the lead with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Kumar at No. 3 singles. The Green & Gold responded at No. 2 singles where Okyay rallied to overcome Schmitt, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, tying the overall score at 2-2.

James Madison reclaimed the lead at No. 4 singles when Ryan Morgan edged Simunyola, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and further extended it with Fleishman’s straight-sets victory over Vilain at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. With these results, James Madison secured the overall victory, and the remaining match at No. 6 singles between Adria Franco and Gur Libal was left unfinished, with Franco trailing 1-6, 4-4. The final dual score was 4-2 in favor of James Madison.
