Coco Gauff is back to winning ways on the court at the Cincinnati Open, but now faces a tricky rematch against Dayana Yastremska.

Gauff and Yastremska met in the first round of Wimbledon last month, where the Ukrainian pulled off a stunning upset.

Yastremska loved playing against Gauff, who she beat 7-6(7-3), 6-1 less than a month after the American won the French Open.

A rematch between the pair has now been served up in the third round of the Cincinnati Open, the latest event on the WTA Tour.

Gauff has set up the clash after defeating Wang Xinyu 6-3, 6-2 in her opener, having received a bye in round one.

And while Wimbledon will undoubtedly be on the back of her mind going into the match, the world number two will be eager to completely put those memories behind her with a win this time around.

Speaking ahead of the match, she said: “I don’t ever think of revenge-type tennis. At first I used to think like that but then I am like I have to play too many people too many times to have a revenge mindset.

“I think for me it’s a good measure to see where my game is. I thought that Wimbledon match was a tough loss for me and I don’t think I approached it well.

“I always have trouble against her, she is a tough opponent, great ball striker who can pull winners out of anywhere.

“So it will be a tough test for me, especially having to play her again, but I think I have had more time to work on things in the hard court season and I definitely think it’s a better surface than grass for me.

“So it’s going to be a tough match but I am looking forward to it and hopefully I can do better than Wimby.”

Gauff was under immense pressure arriving at the All England Club, having only just beaten Aryna Sabalenka in Paris.

That stunning victory represented her second Grand Slam title, and indeed her second Grand Slam final win over Sabalenka.

But early signs of a potential Wimbledon flop were apparent not long after, as Gauff lost her opener to Wang in Berlin.

She then suffered the same fate against Yastremska at Wimbledon, and has since lost in the round of 16 at the Canadian Open.

That defeat came against eventual champion Victoria Mboko, who also shocked the likes of Elena Rybakina and Naomi Osaka en route to the trophy.

Gauff did, however, manage to clinch silverware in Montreal, winning the doubles event alongside McCartney Kessler.
