Residents of the Southeast no longer need to make the drive into Winnipeg for a growing list of integrative health services.

Naturopathic Doctor Erin Esau has opened a new location for Natura Integrative Care Clinic at 9B-90 Brandt St. in Steinbach, expanding her ability to offer IV nutrient therapy, pelvic floor therapy, holistic nutrition and mental health counseling – all under one roof.

“This is a really exciting time for us,” Dr. Esau ND says. “With the larger space we can bring in more natural health services to support people more fully.”

Personalized IV nutrient therapy

One of the most significant additions is intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy, delivered in a dedicated IV suite within the clinic.

Rather than offering standardized formulations, Dr. Esau ND says each IV is tailored to the individual.

“We don’t have blanket formulations,” she says. “After I meet with someone and take their full case, we customize it exactly to what that person needs and what their goals are.”

IV nutrient therapy allows nutrients to be delivered directly into the bloodstream, ensuring full absorption.

“The nice thing is we can dose higher than we can through the oral route,” Dr. Esau ND says. “It’s very much individualized medicine.”

She hopes the expanded space will encourage more local residents to explore IV therapy locally instead of having to leave the region for health care.

A supportive approach to cancer care

Dr. Esau ND is also expanding her work in naturopathic oncology, emphasizing that her role is supportive and collaborative.

“I don’t see it as either mainstream treatment or naturopathic care,” she says. “I see it as working together to help people have the best possible outcomes and quality of life.”

Treatment goals may include supporting immune function, addressing inflammation, managing side effects and focusing on disease prevention in the years that follow treatment.

“My goal is to meet people where they’re at,” Dr. Esau ND says. “If they want to be heard, listened to and have a plan that works for them, that’s what we’re here for.”

Pelvic floor therapy for lifelong strength and function

Another new offering is pelvic floor therapy, provided by a trained pelvic floor therapist who is also a registered nurse with eight years of labour and delivery experience.

“The pelvic floor plays a critical role in bladder and bowel control, core stability,” she says. “When those muscles aren’t functioning well, it can affect daily life more than people realize.”

For many, pelvic floor therapy is a key part of recovery after childbirth. For others, even in the absence of pregnancy and childbirth it may address pelvic pain, issues with sexual function, leakage, prolapse or challenges related to athletic strain, aging or chronic tension.

In children, there are times that issues with bladder or bowel control are related to the muscles of the pelvic floor too – working on muscle strength, and checking the nerve functioning can be helpful in solving the puzzle.

“It’s really about restoring proper function and helping people feel confident in their bodies,” Dr. Esau ND says. “This isn’t just a short-term solution. Supporting the pelvic floor can have lifelong benefits.”

By offering the service locally, she hopes more residents will seek support early rather than quietly suffering for years.

“People sometimes think these issues are just something they have to live with,” she says. “Often, there’s help available.”

Holistic nutrition support

To further round out the clinic’s services, Natura has welcomed holistic nutritionist Candace to the team.

“She helps clients meet their nutritional goals through balanced, sustainable and personalized approaches,” Dr. Esau ND says.

From creating customized meal plans to educating clients on whole-food living, the focus remains on treating the whole person – body, mind and spirit.

“That’s one of the core beliefs of naturopathic medicine,” Dr. Esau ND says. “Two people might have the same symptom, but we don’t necessarily treat them the same. We’re always asking: what’s the root cause?”

Counseling

Local counselor Cameron Plett brings years of experience with marriage and family counseling to Natura where he is accepting new clients. Cameron understands the heaviness that depression and anxiety puts on a person. He is skilled at working with his clients with concerns like anxiety, grief, depression and stress.

“You can’t separate mental and physical health – we’re all one person and mental health issues impact physical health and vice versa which is why I am so excited to have a mental health professional join the team at Natura” Dr. Esau ND states.

With expanded space and a growing team, Natura Integrative Care Clinic aims to make comprehensive, individualized care more accessible – right in the heart of Southeast Manitoba.
