Police say a cleaner stumbled across drugs, firearms, explosives and more than a million dollars in cash in a Melbourne short-term rental in January.

Victoria Police said authorities were called on January 24 after the stash was discovered at the property at Keilor East.

Incendiary devices were found at the property, prompting the Bomb Response Unit and the Australian Defence Force to conduct controlled detonations.

Victoria Police said the property had been rented for weeks in January.

Police interviewed a man in relation to the booking and he’s been released pending further enquiries.

Investigators have released images of a man they want to speak to, who was captured on CCTV filling up a white Toyota Camry.

The Camry travelled to the Keilor East property repeatedly during the period the property was rented.

The images were taken at a service station on the Western Ring Road at Ardeer on Christmas Day.

The vehicle was hired from a car rental company, but police said the man in the image was not the person who hired it.

Police say the man who hired the vehicle is not cooperating with police.

Detective Inspector Jamie Walker, from the Major Drug Squad, urged anyone who recognises the man seen with the white Camry or has information to contact police.

“This was not a run of the mill seizure of drugs and cash. There were incendiary devices and a large quantity of firearms. This is organised crime,” he said.

“We will track down those responsible and hold them to account. It would be in your best interests to tell us what you know now.”
