The City of Chattanooga will be hosting MLB-Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Opening Day at Frost Stadium on Monday, April 13, at 5:00pm to celebrate young athletes’ development and love of the game.
The event will feature a parade showcasing many different youth teams who are affiliated with the RBI program. After the parade will be the ceremonial first pitch to launch the season.
There will be three honorary guests throwing the first pitch:
Marvene Noel: District 8 Councilwoman
David Crutcher: Former Negro League player
Dank Hawkins: Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame member
Officials say they will be celebrating local Negro League athletes, as well as their historical significance and the influence they have had on the Scenic City.
