Perhaps new head coach John Harbaugh wasn’t bluffing when he said everyone on his New York Giants roster was tradable.
The Giants and Dexter Lawrence engaged in contract extension talks after the star defensive lineman requested a trade. However those talks reached an “impasse,” according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Moreover, negotiations between Lawrence and the Giants have reportedly “broken off,” per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. That means that at the very least, someone inside the negotiations is casting them in dire fashion, which doesn’t bode well for a deal anytime soon.
The Giants are engaging in trade talks with other teams, with “significant demand” for Lawrence so far, per Leonard. The situation reportedly could reach a conclusion before the NFL Draft begins April 23.
As the draft approaches next week, more teams will being their offseason programs. Here’s a look at who’s left to begin:
April 20: Panthers, Bears, Bengals, Cowboys, Lions, Packers, Texans, Jaguars, Chiefs, Chargers, Rams, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Jets, Eagles, 49ers, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Commanders
NFL teams that have hired new head coaches are allowed to start their voluntary offseason workout programs early. The Baltimore Ravens were the first team to start their program under new head coach Jesse Minter on April 6. Notably, MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson reported, having skipped voluntary workouts in the past.

The Hall of Fame quarterback has been advising the Dolphins for several months. He was originally part of the team’s GM search, which ended with Jon-Eric Schmidt’s hiring. He was then a part of their search for a new head coach, which resulted in hiring Jeff Hafley.
Aikman’s advice won’t go away anytime soon, according to Sullivan. The former Cowboys QB will be a sounding board, but will not be part of their draft process.

Nasir Adderley surprisingly walked away from the NFL at 25 years old in March 2023. At the time, the safety was coming off his fourth season with the Los Angeles Chargers, who selected him out of Delaware in second round of the 2019 draft.
In the three years since, Adderley has felt the itch to play again, and, so, in February, he announced his intent to return to the league.
Adderley took the first step toward completing his NFL comeback on Tuesday, signing with the Indianapolis Colts.

The San Francisco 49ers are signing cornerback Jack Jones, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jones spent last season with the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Las Vegas Raiders from 2023-24. The Raiders picked him up off waivers during the 2023 campaign, following his release from the New England Patriots, who drafted Jones in the fourth round of the 2022 draft out of Arizona State.
Jones has a knack for taking the ball away. He has scattered eight interceptions over his four NFL seasons, and he’s taken half of them back for six.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Friday that the league will continue to seek to hold games in Australia in the future. Another game in 2027 is in consideration as the league expands its global footprint.
“There’s no question that we’re going to be playing here again,” Goodell said while at Melbourne Cricket Ground to promote the 49ers-Rams game. “Our view is that we’re coming here for the long term. We don’t come as a one-offs. This isn’t a circus.
“This is something that’s an investment in this, in this market and we believe that, this is long term and will be great for the NFL long term.”

Jaguars two-way talent Travis Hunter will not be a full-go as the team begins its offseason program. According to general manager James Gladstone, the CB/WR will be limited as he recovers from knee surgery.
“He’ll be, for all intents and purposes, a limited participant throughout the offseason program with eyes on return to play at full tick in training camp,” Gladstone said.
Hunter went down with a non-contact injury in October and while his ACL remained intact, surgery was needed and a six-month recovery timeline was announced.
Whenever Hunter gets back to 100%, he’s expected to see more time at cornerback, as Gladstone said in January.
Hunter played 162 of his 486 total snaps at cornerback with 15 tackles and three pass deflections. At wide receiver, he recorded 28 receptions on 45 targets for 298 yards and a touchdown.

The Department of Justice has reportedly opened an investigation into whether the NFL is using “anticompetitive tactics that harm consumers,” according to the Wall Street Journal.
While the exact “nature and scope of the investigation” is not known, per the WSJ, it could involve the league’s ability to allow teams to negotiate their own TV rights packages. Congress has raised concerns in recent months over how difficult it is for fans to watch games due to various rights deals with networks and streaming services.
That’s a stark difference compared to 1961, when the Sports Broadcasting Act was introduced. The statute granted some antitrust protection to the NFL and its teams, allowing them to negotiate media rights deals.

Atlanta Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary will reportedly retire at age 31, according to his agent, Collin Roberts. McGary missed the entire 2025-2026 season after suffering a significant knee injury last August.
He signed a $30 million contract extension last summer that was set to expire after the 2027 season. The Falcons will reportedly be able to recoup some of that salary after his retirement.
With Elijah Wilkinson, who filled in for McGary at right tackle last season, signing with the Arizona Cardinals, the Falcons have Storm Norton and Michael Jerrell on the roster at right tackle. Norton also missed all of last season with an ankle injury.

The clock is ticking on the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFL Referees Association (NFLRA). That expires on May 31, and the league continues to bolster its contingency plan.
The NFL informed teams on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, that the league will begin training replacement officials in May but is still committed to “reaching a fair and reasonable agreement with the NFRA.”
The NFL is aiming to have those replacement refs ready for team visits, which would start on June 1, if no new CBA can be reached, per Pelissero, who relayed part of a memo sent by Senior VP of Officiating Perry Fewell.
That memo, per Pelissero, stated that, while determining a finalized officiating roster for camp and preseason games, the league will seek feedback from teams regarding the performance of potential replacement refs.
Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein reported last month from the league’s annual meeting about the points of contention that have stalled CBA negotiations between the NFL and the NFLRA.

Las Vegas quarterback Kirk Cousins addressed the possibility that the Raiders will select Fernado Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
“Fernado’s going to be a great addition to our team and has a great future in the league,” Cousins said on Good Morning Football on Wednesday.
Cousins also mentioned he is willing to be a voice in the room to help him and that the two watched film together during Mendoza’s visit on Tuesday. Cousins added that he can learn from Mendoza, especially his back-shoulder throws.
Recently, Cousins signed a one-year, fully guaranteed $20 million deal with the Raiders in early April. The deal is more complex than it appears but essentially functions as a one-year contract.
While Cousins is familiar with Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak’s system after working with him on the Minnesota Vikings, he wants the best quarterback to play.
