Quantum computing stocks surged in premarket trading on Wednesday after Nvidia (NVDA) introduced a new family of open-source AI models designed to accelerate advances in the sector.
Xanadu Quantum Technologies (NASDAQ:XNDU) jumped 17%, while D-Wave Quantum QBTS climbed about 9%. Infleqtion
INFQ rose nearly 7%, and IonQ
IONQ added more than 6%. Rigetti Computing
RGTI and Quantum Computing
QUBT each gained roughly 6%.
Nvidia said the new models are the first open-source AI models built specifically for quantum computing. The company expects the quantum computing market to exceed $11 billion by 2030. Several partners are already deploying the models, including Infleqtion, Nvidia noted.
The broader rally reflects growing investor optimism that Nvidia’s push could speed up practical applications in quantum computing.
