Tefal has introduced an automated garment care system designed to simplify everyday clothing maintenance by combining steaming, drying and sanitising in a single unit.
Available at JB-Hi-Fi for $799, the Tefal Care For You First Automatic Garment Steamer allows users to place up to three garments inside, where steam is used to remove wrinkles, refresh fabrics and reduce odours without the need for detergents or chemicals. A standard cycle can smooth light creases in around 10 minutes, while more intensive treatments take up to 30 minutes.
A dedicated sanitising mode runs for 40 minutes and is claimed to eliminate up to 99.99 per cent of bacteria, viruses and germs, while also helping reduce allergens. Faster drying is another key feature, with the system designed to work up to five times quicker than natural air drying, making it suitable for delicate materials such as silk, wool and cashmere.
The unit includes rotating hangers, garment clips and a remote control, along with a removable 1.2 litre water tank for easier refilling. It is also designed to use around 40 per cent less energy than traditional steaming methods.
Positioned as an at-home alternative to professional garment care, the system aims to reduce reliance on dry cleaning while offering a more automated approach to clothing maintenance.
