Patrick Retschko will achieve a lifelong dream when he debuts for Richmond on Sunday.

Richmond recruit Patrick Retschko, a lifelong Tigers supporter, will realise his dream of becoming an AFL footballer when he pulls on the yellow and black guernsey for the first time against North Melbourne on Sunday at Marvel Stadium.

Retschko, who was traded from Geelong at the end of the 2025 season, spent his pre-season impressing Richmond coaches and teammates alike, earning a spot in the Round 6 side.

After just three games at VFL level this season, the 20-year-old, who was drafted by the Cats with the 23rd selection in the 2024 rookie draft, has earned the call-up.

Retschko, and his family, have a huge connection to the Tigers, with both Patrick and his father Paul discussing their strong links to Richmond in a February story with Richmond Media. Click here to read.

Retschko impressed over the summer, winning the Club’s Bronco running test twice, highlighting his speed and endurance on the wing.

In his three VFL outings for 2026, he has collected a solid 24, 25 and 22 disposals, having an impact across the wing and through the midfield.

The Oakleigh Chargers/Caulfield Grammar product averaged 21.5 disposals across 18 matches at VFL level last season, including a 30-disposal performance.

He will become Richmond’s third debutant this year, following Sam Grlj in Round 1, and ruckman Oliver Hayes-Brown, who debuted last week in the Gather Round.

The Tigers face the Kangaroos on Sunday at Marvel Stadium at 1:10pm (AEST).Â
