Ipswich forward George Hirst, who won Town’s controversial late penalty, told Sky Sports: “It doesn’t matter f I would have got to the ball or not – If you’re a defender you cant make contact in the box like that. He’s pulled me back. it’s a silly mistake and it is a penalty.”
Asked about ending Boro’s promotion hopes, Hirst added: “I’m not too bothered (about Boro), we focus on ourselves. We showed why we have the best home record in the league, we went 2-1 down and keep pushing, it shows the character we have got.
“(Promotion) is in our hands, it’s for us to decide.”
