Two years ago, James Barker and his team at Ellerston Capital invested in a little-known company called SKS Technologies. At the time, the shares were trading at 49¢. This week, they hit a record $5.82.
In the parlance of the market, it’s a “10-bagger” – an investment that returns 10 times its original value. For Barker, who has spent the past 11 years at Ellerston, it is the result of a boots-on-the-ground approach to looking for businesses that most of the big players haven’t noticed yet.
