We pick up right where last week’s bombshell left off: Carlo hooked up with Elise and is dumping Tiffany.
But Carlo was not prepared for Tiffany to be a stone-cold gangster about it. In her one-on-one, she admits she’s very hurt and thought there was something developing with Carlo, but in person, she’s the epitome of “Good for you.”
Carlo is pretty thrown by how calmly she’s taking this news, even admitting he thinks Elise is “slutty,” which Tiffany shuts down quickly. Alone, he thinks Tiffany’s putting on a show of not being hurt, which hurts his feelings. Buddy, you just told the girl you were previously all in on that you hooked up with someone else and are dumping her, how is that hurting you?
We get a break from that mess and catch up with Tim and Mei on their date, which is awkward but cute. They do some stargazing, but neither one knows how to operate a telescope and appears utterly baffled by the concept, so they talk about dating and Mei’s work as a spiritual healer instead. The date goes well enough for a second round later. Glad to see some things are working out!
Speaking of working out, Cortney visits Colt again while he’s recovering at a hotel following his leg surgery. At first, the date is a little awkward as he admits he is jobless and homeless, but he wins Cortney over by drawing her, ala the scene in “Titanic.”
However, Colt is not an artist and he shows her the worst child-like sketch ever made. But it makes her laugh so hard she cries and she decides she’d be willing to keep seeing things through, including staying longer in Mexico with him while he recovers.
Carlo’s day keeps getting worse though, as he has two tough conversations with Tiffany and Elise. First, he tells Tiffany that hooking up with Elise was a mistake and he wants to get back with her. Tiffany remains cool as a cucumber but tells him he needs to fix things, but she’s not going to tell him how.
But Carlo knows, so he runs off to talk to Elise and dump her. Elise is more emotional about the situation, demanding to know why they hooked up if his heart was always going to be with Tiffany. He never answers, and slips in that Tiffany did some name-calling, which of course, upsets Elise. She starts crying, remembering how he literally just told her he saw a life with her, and tells him to get out and take his teddy bear he’d given her with him. Carlo goes in for a hug, but Elise doesn’t move a muscle to reciprocate.
Meanwhile, Chantel has been on her own journey with her sexuality for most of the retreat, and finally decides to commit to her friend Ashley back home. Before she does, she talks out her feelings with Tim, who is a kind sounding board and affirms her sexuality. That night, ahead of the big party, Chantel calls Ashley to tell her how she feels, and Ashley happily agrees to start dating when she’s back.
Everyone, including Cortney, who’s frequently been M.I.A. with Colt, heads to the house party that night. And like all parties on this show, things quickly descend into chaos.
First, Cortney and Usman talk and have a tearful breakup, which is wild since they went on one singular date where Usman immediately said, “I love you.” But they are trying to do right by each other’s feelings, so that’s nice. Usman still carries a torch for Cortney though, and avoids most of the rest of the drama at the party.
Next in the ring are Elise, Tiffany, Carlo, and their mess. Sorting through the drama here is a group effort as everybody is chiming in while Elise and Tiffany hash it out, fueling the argument between the two women further. Finally, they talk one-on-one and Elise says she and Carlo hooked up more than once. That news is the death blow (for now) for Tiffany wanting to give Carlo another chance.
She and Elise apologize to each other, and Carlo thinks he’s in the clear until Tiffany mentions some information he might have left out. Carlo is once again panicked and realizes he didn’t say the hook-ups happened more than once, and Tiffany walks away. All hail our ice queen, she is having none of this nonsense from Carlo.
Finally, Jennifer, who had been giving Rob the cold shoulder after their successful date, reveals she saw Mei leave his room the other night. She confronts Mei first, who says they just hung out and played dominoes (interesting euphemism if it is one), and Rob confirms the same. But Jennifer’s not buying it.
Rob feels he’s facing a double standard, with Jennifer allowed to be with him and Cole, but he can’t even hang out with a female friend without drama. He calls Jen out, and Cole steps in to defend her, but the conversation devolves quickly into him and Rob getting in each other’s faces.
These guys are just sick of each other and have to be held apart by the other guys and even a crew member.
Before things come to blows though, it’s the end of the episode. Maybe one day this group can have a nice get-together without someone trying to take a swing or call each other something nasty.
