Warner Bros.’ “Weapons” opened at No. 1 at the U.K. and Ireland box office with £2.8 million ($3.7 million), according to Comscore.

Disney’s “Freakier Friday” debuted in second place with $2.3 million, while the studio’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” moved to third, taking $1.8 million for a three-week total of $25.5 million.

Paramount’s “The Naked Gun” was in fourth with $1.4 million, bringing its two-week total to $5.9 million. Universal’s animated sequel “The Bad Guys 2” rounded out the top five with $1 million for a cumulative $9.9 million.

The lower half of the top 10 was led by Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” at No. 6, which earned £$892,222 for a cumulative $44.9 million. Warner Bros.’ “Superman” ranked No. 7 with $874,672, bringing its total to $34.9 million.

Warner Bros.’ racing drama “F1” placed No. 8, adding $378,875 for $28.8 million to date. Yash Raj Films’ “Saiyaara” came in at No. 9 with $328,509 for a running total of $3.5 million, while Trafalgar Releasing’s Eminem fans documentary “Stans” was at No. 10, grossing $285,426 and pushing its cumulative total to $473,893.

Celine Song’s follow-up to “Past Lives,” the romantic comedy-drama “Materialists,” leads this week’s new releases, arriving in more than 300 locations from Wednesday Aug. 13 via Sony Pictures. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.

Thursday sees the arrival of two of the year’s biggest films from India – Yash Raj Films’ spy universe action sequel “War 2,” headlined by NTR and Hrithik Roshan; and Lights On Entertainment and Hamsini Entertainment’s “Coolie,” with superstar Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Upendra and Soubin Shahir.

Music documentary “The Grateful Dead Movie 2025 Meet-Up” also opens on Thursday via Trafalgar Releasing.

Friday brings a packed slate headed by Kaleidoscope Entertainment’s family comedy “Super-Charlie,” which will open in 300+ locations. Netflix launches Benjamin Caron’s crime thriller “Night Always Comes,” starring Vanessa Kirby and Jennifer Jason Leigh, while Modern Films continues its “Oslo Stories Trilogy” with “Love.” Bulldog Film Distribution offers the Swedish drama “Unmoored,” and Tull Stories debuts the intimate documentary “Motherboard,” directed by and starring Victoria Mapplebeck.

Additional Friday launches include ICA Cinema’s “My Grandmother Trelotótó,” Park Circus’ 4K restoration of Jim Jarmusch’s “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,” and Curzon’s 4K re-issue of “Central Station.” Entertainment Film Distributors rolls out body horror “Together,” Miracle Comms presents “Bambi: A Tale of Life in the Woods,” and Universal Pictures previews action sequel “Nobody 2” ahead of its wider release.

Anime Ltd closes the week on Sunday with a 4K re-release of Mamoru Hosoda’s “Wolf Children.”
