Pop star Katy Perry has been slapped with a hefty fine after filming a music video in a protected area without the necessary permission.

The singer, who recently parted ways with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, shot scenes for her song LIFETIMES last summer in the Ses Salines Natural Park on Spain’s Balearic Islands. However, environmental activists were quick to alert authorities that the crew was filming in a strictly prohibited zone.

The park, which spans 40,000 acres of both land and sea across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, requires a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment for entry. As they failed to secure one, a fine was issued to Perry’s production company.

According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the Balearic government has ordered the company to cough up €6,001 ($6,966). The publication reports that the fine has already been paid following the release of the music video for her single on August 8 last year.

The protected area serves as a nesting spot for migrating birds and is recognized by UNESCO World Heritage. In the video, Perry can be seen dancing on the beaches in an ‘area of special scenic and rural interest.’

While officials deemed the offense ‘serious’, they found no evidence of lasting damage.

Katy Perry is reportedly feeling “let down and humiliated” after her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, seemingly poked fun at her rumored new relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The 40-year-old pop star was first linked to Trudeau after they were spotted dining together in late July at Le Violon restaurant in Montreal, where they reportedly enjoyed lobster and cocktails.

Just two days later, Trudeau, 53, was seen at Perry’s concert in the city, dancing and singing along to her hit song Firework. However, according to OK! Magazine, Bloom, 48, appeared to take a jab at the unexpected new romance while commenting on a social media post.

The post, from satirical news site The Onion, featured a doctored photo of Bloom sharing a romantic meal with retired German politician Angela Merkel. The image showed the pair sitting at a candle-lit dinner table, with a fake caption from an “insider” claiming, “Angela kept Orlando laughing all night – he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!” In response, Bloom posted a string of clapping emojis in the comments section below, which reportedly upset Perry.

A source revealed to New, “Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realizing that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colors and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future.”

They added, “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”

The couple confirmed the end of their on-again, off-again nine-year relationship in June, issuing a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting their four year old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

The statement read, “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ‘s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”

It continued, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
