It’s healthy to be skeptical of things you see on the Internet, especially in the AI age, but just because something may seem unbelievable, doesn’t mean it’s not real. Just take this miraculous viral golf video for example. Though it may seem impossible on the surface, it appears, perhaps unfortunately, as real as could be. Check it out.

Needless to say, this is the wildest golf highlight you will see all week/month/year, but as many golfers will tell you, it doesn’t count for sh*t and, in fact, might be everything wrong with the current state of the game.

Instead of tapping in after missing his putt, this young golfer (in a backwards hat and tee shirt, GASP) stuck a tee in the putting surface and smoked a driver straight into a nearby grove of trees. Though the end result will undoubtedly rack up tens of thousands of views, damaging greens, slowing play and hitting dangerous shots that could easily ricochet back into someone’s eye socket is a three-putt of no-nos. Golfers in the comments were quick to point it out too.

We love a good viral golf video. Hell, when pro golf news is slow, they help to keep the lights on. That said, the golf jury is unanimous on this one. Their ruling? Don’t be these guys. Obviously, they’re young and will mature, and yes, they‘ll get their 15 minutes of fame from this clip, but as any golfer will tell you, respect for the game comes first. Here’s hoping they learn that lesson before they get kicked off the course or, worse yet, end up in the ER with a Nitro embedded in their forehead.
